Call for Papers
Interested contributors to the International Conference on Learning Innovation in Science and Technology are invited to submit digests in English for oral, poster and/or dialogue presentation. The purpose of the conference is to exchange information regarding research and development and to promote friendship between the countries.
Covered topics
- Learning and Teaching Styles
Learning and teaching methods are ways in which information is presented by the instructors to the students There are two different roles of instructors. The educator is first a teacher. Some theories might call teacher-centered approaches. The second role is that of an instructor working as a facilitator for learner-centered approaches. These approaches have their own ways to construct student’s knowledge. Methods that fall into the teacher-centered approaches include demonstration, direct instruction, lecture and lecture-discussions. Its focus is on one way communication. In contrast, the learners need to construct their own understandings in the learner-centered approach. Instructors are involved in some processes. There are a number of methods such as: case study, cooperative learning, discussion etc. - Learning Environment
The learning environment is the use and organization of the space in learning areas. The purpose of arranging the space is to meet student’s developmental needs, create comfortable and safe feelings, arouse student’s attention, help students understand their complex problems etc. The concept of creating a learning environment would involve students in independent research to find and select their own relevant resources. Moreover, students will be able to select learning resources and make choices about what they want to do in a culturally relevant setting that stimulates their curiosity so they explore and learn. - Learning Technology
There has been a rapid growth of technology into instruction in the 21st century. The use of technology in classrooms and research on the effect of technology on learning is increasing. The focus on the maximum benefits of technology and the profound development of computers are two main reasons that motivate instructors to use such a variety of technologies: computer-based instruction, networking and distance learning, e-learning, virtual reality, stimulations and games etc. - Multidisciplinary Learning
- Soft Skill Development
Student’s personality development and mental or even physical health are now the university responsibility. One’s productivity as an instructor has greatly enhanced those qualifications. Soft skill development or sometimes called people skills is a must. Soft skills refer to behavioral competencies. They include proficiencies such as communication skills, conflict resolution and negotiation, personal effectiveness, creative problem solving, strategic thinking, team building etc. - Vocational Education
- Work-Integrated Learning
- Skill Acquisition
Both general skills and specific skills apply to a wide variety of disciplines. However, each type of skill learning has unique features. General skills include widely applicable strategies such as memorizing, time management, creativity etc. Some of the general skills are classified as soft skills. The domain-specific skills would be useful for a special purpose of education. The skill development usually requires certain environmental stimuli and situations to assess the level of skill being shown and used. The competency-based learning is involved. To investigate student’s development, novice-to-expert model is used to determine their improvement. - Content-Area Learning
The learning in the content areas of engineering, science and social study are focused. Each area has its own unique curriculum. However, the learning credits, class management, class and lab assignments or evaluation would be different even in the same discipline. - Learner Characteristics
Characteristics of learners and instructors affect instruction and student learning in many ways. The learner characteristics are concentrated on two topics: aptitudes and learning style. The aptitudes are abilities, attitudes and personality variables. The learning styles are approaches or ways of learning that students prefer. The suggestions for adapting to individual students differences are requirements for successful instruction. In fact, experience instructors know that learners need to be treated differently depending on their need. Therefore, any type of instruction will not be equally effective with all students. Understanding learner characteristics is the key of success. - Related Topics
Paper submission
Prospective authors are requested to submit a two page (A4 size) short paper, which is a short form of the final paper for peer reviewing. It is expected to be a condensation or summary which outlines the work to be reported and includes the results and conclusions. The digest has to include the abstract (250 words approximately) on the first page.
The authors are required to submit a full paper once the short paper is accepted. To be eligible for proceedings, at least one author must register to present the paper and one registration can present only two papers. The format for the full papers will be available on the conference website. In this case, the corresponding paper will not be included in the conference proceedings. A template for the short paper will be available on the conference website.
